Design collage for The Kitchen at the Freud Playhouse

The Kitchen

Arnold Wesker’s The Kitchen puts an entire restaurant’s working day on stage — thirty characters, hundreds of dishes, and a kitchen that functions as pressure cooker, factory floor, and battlefield.

The set design built that machine for the Freud Playhouse: stations, pass, and traffic patterns choreographed as tightly as the text, so the kitchen itself becomes the play’s central character.
