Promenade Playhouse

A theater on Santa Monica’s Third Street Promenade — one of the most heavily walked retail streets in California. The design brings performance space into a storefront context, negotiating between the street’s energy and the focus a black box demands.

Yohannes served as Architectural Designer, developing the venue from concept through detailed design: house, stage, lobby, and the street face that has to invite an audience in from the promenade.
